jeanmarie griffin is a lifelong artist and designer/master tailor. Top Flight Fashions was the main line for jeanmarie, lasting over 25 years.
Designs ranged from bathing suits, men's suits, wedding gowns, window treatments and one of a kind bags, to her sub-line a remix by jeanmarie. In this line there are not only bags, but sculpture and art made from reclaimed items.
Since 2009 jeanmaire has had a new passion for reuse and opportunity it offers. The a remix by jeanmariebags are made from fabrics that have been used as something else before made into a bag.
The fabrics range from second hand clean clothing to Interior Designer sample swatches that are out of stock, and a few odd things in between. Also choosing to use fabrics that are new at times but prefer them to be an organic or natural blend. When using virgin fabrics to keep in line with a remix by jeanmarievintage jewelry, belts and many items that are of a reused nature will be added on.
Very little waste is accumulated during the process of making this type of art.
People really love jeanmarie's sense of color and fabric choices. You may find threads or paper stuck to a bag, but this is all part of the design, the sample books at times are attached to paper with glue, but in the design they stabilize the fabric and sometimes they show, it's ok, edges maybe surge or zigzagged, but the idea is ruff and raw edges. jeanmarie constantly develops new ideas, with many more to come.
jeanmarie's style has been described as: Edgy but Finished; Raw yet Tailored; Bohemian and Cutting edge; Whimsical and Fun.
