The Town of Carrboro Art Committee in Carrboro, North Carolina is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit in the Century Center Gallery on Friday November 8, 2013. This exhibit, titled “I SECOND OF THOUGHT” features work by Edwin Solomon, a local artist.
In his bio Mr. Solomon states; My experimentations with acrylic paint and canvas started with a friends’ need to make closet space. His trash became the most therapeutic outlet that I’d encountered since my hiatus from writing fiction. In my free time, I have made an effort to research art by visiting museums, reading books, and viewing material online. I currently have around eighty completed pieces ranging in size from 6” X 8” to 4’ X 2’. I do not have a label or style to attach to my work. I simply paint what I like. I can honestly say that everything that I have done is something I would or have hung in my home. I enjoy color. I see the plain, white, background as the enemy to be covered. Of course there are miracles that can be formed through the simplicity of a minimalist approach and an embrace of white. Perhaps when I mature I‘ll be more suited for that approach. For now, I prefer to create visual depictions of snapshots of thought.
The gallery is open to view anytime during regular business hours. Admission is free.
