North Carolina Summer is here! Come out for this Fridays Artwalk, get to see some exciting pieces from Skillet Gilmore and meet the man himself, while sipping chilled white wine!
Skillet Gilmore is a self-taught graphic designer and screen printer. He got his start designing the posters for the various bands he was in because no one else seemed interested. Having moved from purely digital work to screen printing, he is now doing larger art prints on salvaged and reclaimed wood. The letterpress of Hatch Show Prints, the hand-lettering of old signs, and the illustrations of Saul Bass and Charley Harper, amongst others, all inform his work.
He is the founder and curator of POSTERscotch, the annual poster exhibition that runs in conjunction with Hopscotch Music Festival and his work is archived at the Southern Folklife Collection at the Wilson Library at UNC-Chapel Hill.
As usual the reception will be from 6-9pm.
Skillet's prints will be for show through August 6th.
Vespertine and This & That will be selling the smaller pieces in the as well during the month of August.
Can't wait to see everybody!
