“You are never too old to pursue your dream.”
Art, specifically painting, has always been an interest that I could not pursue due to the demands of family and a full-time career. I have been fortunate to find my passion in painting both in acrylic and watercolor. Nature studies are the subjects from which I derive the greatest pleasure. It is exciting to closely observe an animal to get to know its personality through the animal’s eyes and to feel the fur or feathers with my eyes. As I grow as an artist I find that I “see” more clearly the colors and textures of plants, trees, flowers and the world around us and appreciate the beauty of scenes that I only looked at before.
I have recently added a study of food as a focus for my art. The array of colors found outside can also be observed in the foods that we eat. I find it interesting to really look at fruits and vegetables as objects to be painted and not just to be eaten. This focus has given me a completely new direction for my “nature” study.
There are definite advantages to getting older; the opportunity to retire and the freedom to pursue a dream.
