The Ackland Museum Store is proud to present Made in America, a curated market of goods designed and manufactured in the United States. The market, opening on November 1st, will feature companies who have been manufacturing for fifty years or more in the United States. Some of these companies have been in business for over one hundred years and a few have been rescued from the brink of closure by investors who wanted to see their rich traditions continued. These are all companies who have consistently made products, mostly utilitarian in nature, with a timeless and enduring quality. They are true examples of American design, materials, and manufacturing.
With Made in America, we celebrate the work of individuals and small business owners--the artists, the makers, and the innovators. We’d love to share with you the remarkable stories of the people and the places behind the products in Made in America. They enforce our belief in American products which are designed and crafted well.
There’s more than a bit of nostalgia to be found in this market, with companies such as North Carolina’s Cone Mills, Ohio based Mosser Glass (pictured center), Faribault Woolen Mill in Minnesota (pictured left), and Steele Canvas Basket in Massachusetts (pictured right). There will be American goods ranging from beautiful utilitarian glass to baskets to hats.
Made in America opens on November 1, 2014.
This special market will continue through the Holidays. All proceeds benefit the Ackland Art Museum. For more information, please contact the Ackland Museum Store at 919.962.0216
