Mills Rainey Jazz Duo

The Mills Rainey Jazz Duo will be performing in the Store for Second Friday in May.

Guitarist David Mills and tenor saxophonist Jesse Rainey met each other inside North Carolina Central University’s B.N. Duke auditorium in late October 2013. Jesse ventured onto campus in search of a serious musician to play with and noticed David quietly practicing a chord melody rendition of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s song “Wave”. The chords caught Jesse’s attention and he asked David if he knew another bossa nova song by Tony Hatch titled “Call Me”. They quickly began to perform it, instantly connected, and decided to start the duo on day one. Now the two live together in Durham, NC, and have been actively gigging in the Triangle area ever since. Believing in the importance of keeping the jazz tradition of “swing” alive, The Mills-Rainey Jazz Duo stays true to the roots of jazz, plays a variety of jazz standards, ballads, and blues and gives their all in each performance.

Field Studies: Works in Paper by Bryant Holsenbeck and Ann Marie Kennedy continues in the gallery.

We will be open until 8:30PM.
