Whether you’re new to the area or you’ve grown up here, this show will take you on a unique tour of our area and show you the Triangle in a way you haven’t viewed it before. This photography exhibition explores both common landmarks and hidden gems from throughout the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area through the lens of 3 different photographers: Derek Leek, Mallory Wesner, and Kenny Ferguson. Come enjoy some snacks, grab a beer or glass of wine, and experience “The Triangle from 3 Points.”
Derek Leek is a web designer by day and a photographer when the inspiration strikes. While his skills behind the camera haven’t pushed him to make a career of it, he can often be found shooting events, weddings, portrait sessions and the occasional interior design job. However, to see the true beauty in his photography, it’s best to see the images he shoots just because he wants to. These are the shots that you want to hang on your wall. Whether it’s a landscape/cityscape shot when he discovers an interesting point of view, or portraits of towns and people he meets while traveling on missions trips to Central and South America, these are instant conversation starters and works of art.
Mallory Wesner is one of our own. She’s a member of the Digital Facilitator team here at 3 Birds, but her skills behind the camera cannot be denied. The beauty of her photography is in capturing the everyday in the way you would want it remembered. Places and sites we’ve all seen become works of art with her unique perspective and expert timing. Having studied photojournalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she takes the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” to heart and conveys a story with each image.
Kenny Ferguson of JMF Photography is a portrait, commercial and aerial photographer based in Raleigh, NC. His unique perspective on The Triangle often comes from above while shooting aerial photographs of places and events. It’s possible that this birds eye view has given him the scoop on some of the more unique locations around RDU. These are the places where he stages many of his terrestrial based shoots, capturing special moments of children and families, or newly engaged couples. Equally as talented at capturing memories in the moment, he has proven himself to be a gifted wedding and event photographer as well.
