Cat Moleski Art
For Cat Moleski art is an adventure; a playful struggle between paint, canvas, and imagination. She begins with images from nature or simply an idea she wants to express and layers the canvas with color and hope, until it reaches that magical tipping point where ghost images, under-paint, and top marks reveal a cohesive image. She scrapes, pushes, blends, and sometimes uses her fingers to propel the paint across the canvas.
Moleski studied studio Fine Art at Alfred University. Her recent shows include venues in and around Chapel Hill as well as Open Studios at her home. She has attended two residencies at the Vermont Studio Center where the freedom from everyday responsibilities let her expand her painting repertoire.
Music and coffee are the inspirations behind the six large acrylics she created specifically for the space at the Open Eye Café. A few of her other abstract acrylics will hang in the small study room off the main hall.
