Preservation Chapel Hill is proud to host artist Dawn Surratt’s June 2017 exhibition. For the past 20 years she has spent her life working with hospice patients in rural and urban settings and grappling with the duality of both the tenacity and fragility of the human spirit. This very sacred work is the backbone of her photography, echoing strong undercurrents of transition, tenderness and loss. She exclusively uses toy lenses to capture her images because they are unpredictable and surprising---almost as much as life itself.
