Meet local fiber artist, Jean Wipperman, during Womancraft’s 2nd Friday celebration in Carrboro. Jean is an accomplished artisan, with a wide range of skills including sewing, quilting, embroidery, crochet and weaving. Her creativity is sparked when finding ways to repurpose materials with a whimsical flair.
Jean will be featuring work of both function and fun. Her “fiddly quilts” combine color, texture and tactile elements designed to sooth those dealing with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, restlessness, etc. And her casino purses, made entirely by recycling men’s neckties, are the perfect touch for a night out on the town.
Come and meet Jean, learn more about her passion and techniques . . . and have a snack and a splash of wine, too.
Another great upcoming event at WomanCraft: Woodworking Demonstration
Saturday, June 10; 12 noon to 5:00pm
Join us for WomanCraft Gifts' first "demo day" of the summer - just in time for Father's Day shopping. Members of the Chapel Hill Woodturners will be set up to show you how they work their magic with wood. The group will feature the technique of marquetry, presented by member Beth Woody.
