Bodhi Day at Ackland Art Museum

  • Ackland Art Museum (map)

During this month’s 2nd Friday ArtWalk, the Ackland will celebrate Bodhi Day in connection with "Religion and Ritual," our newly-opened installation of Asian art that presents the deities and artistic traditions of the world’s most populous continent.

Bodhi Day, a Buddhist holiday celebrated across Asia (also known as Laba in China and Rohatsu in Japan), marks the day the Buddha reached enlightenment. In the spirit of this holiday, the Ackland invites visitors to:

- Take part in an introductory meditation class led by Lori Burgwyn Hernandez of The Well and Franklin Street Yoga. (Beginners are welcome; meditation techniques will be shared.)

- Try a nighttime version of the Ackland’s Yoga in the Galleries class with Joanne Marshall.

Free and open to the public!
