Frumet Raskin-Miller (Potter) and Dottie Fiddleman (Quilter) at WomanCraft Gifts

Inspiration comes from all directions at WomanCraft! These two artisans have joined forces for the 2nd Friday Artwalk in May to display pottery by Frumet Raskin-Miller (LateBloomerPottery) that is inspired by quilting patterns and techniques. Dottie Fiddleman will feature her work as well – works of art made with fabric, thread and a lot of creativity!

LateBloomerPottery creates functional pottery using the potter's wheel, handbuilding and a combination of the two. For this ArtWalk, the focus has been on creating pottery that reflect the aesthetic of quilting. The pieces are embellished with patterns and textures created by pushing handmade stamps into soft clay in order to create the feel of fabrics stitched together. Some of the pieces were decorated using a "pin wheel", a tool used by quilters while marking fabrics prior to cutting out pieces.

Dottie Fiddleman will share through live demonstrations how her creations come together and discuss the techniques in her craft that inspires others. So join us for an evening of fun and creativity!
