Mark Abercrombie is an abstract expressionist painter based in North Carolina. Mark primarily paints in acrylic, spray paint, and occasionally oil. Visit Krave Kava Bar on the 2nd Friday ArtWalk to see how Mark incorporates his love of art into works that invigorate his mind, body and spirit.
Max Mayo’s drawings at Krave come from archetypes that are familiar: private eyes, monsters, celebrities, various forms of every man. But in most of his drawings is poignancy for an era gone by, for a non-living creature appreciating a bird, for the downtrodden who every day face their work of the day, whatever it be.
He offers humorous takes on movie archetypes: farmers, Frenchmen, hillbillies, gangsters, lone vigilantes, and animated animals and gargoygles. Exaggerated robotization, sometimes with anthropomorphism, takes surprising turns as well.
His work is irreverent but more than that. It contains a genuine appreciation of the span of humanity, as well as sly remarks on technology and weaponry, and the beings/creatures that inhabit or use these means.
Please join Krave in downtown Carrboro for 2nd Friday Artwalk. De Ja View loves living and creating art in Chapel Hill! Come see his first solo art show at Krave Kava during the month of December! Go Heels! https://www.facebook.com/events/121709564859844/
His original digital art prints will be on display for the entire month. Opening reception happens during Carrboro's 2nd Friday Art Walk on the 11th. This is a special showcase of Jesse's favorite large format digital collages, digital paintings, and generative art, as well as a small poster design feature. In addition, Krave's video lounge projections feature an audio visualization program and an 'interactive dance wall' installed by Jesse. There will be a special video installation during the opening.
