Inspiration comes from all directions at WomanCraft! These two artisans have joined forces for the 2nd Friday Artwalk in May to display pottery by Frumet Raskin-Miller (LateBloomerPottery) that is inspired by quilting patterns and techniques. For this ArtWalk, the focus has been on creating pottery that reflect the aesthetic of quilting. The pieces are embellished with patterns and textures created by pushing handmade stamps into soft clay in order to create the feel of fabrics stitched together. Some of the pieces were decorated using a "pin wheel", a tool used by quilters while marking fabrics prior to cutting out pieces.

Dottie Fiddleman will share through live demonstrations how her creations come together and discuss the techniques in her craft that inspires others. So join us for an evening of fun and creativity!

Reception for Featured Artist Shannon Bueker at WomanCraft

Featured Artist Shannon Bueker at WomanCraft

Shannon Bueker of Not Now Kato! Studio is WomanCraft's featured artist for the Second Friday Art Walk on October 14.

As Shannon reflects, "The life we have is a gift. It is a wonder to me that it comes in so many shapes, sizes and forms. My drawing and painting have long been motivated by the need to respond to the beauty I see around me. The amazing grace of trees and plants, the fluidity of animals, the outrageous colors of the earth, all provoke me to paint and draw. I rarely have a plan. I paint, draw, layer, dance the line around the canvas or page, then wait for who or what shows up."

Come see Shannon's work and meet the artist at the 2nd Friday ArtWalk  WomanCraft is located at 360 East Main Street in Carrboro.
